Background

Kentwell Hall is a Tudor manor house in Suffolk offering interactive re-enactments, seasonal events, and educational visits for schools and families. With a year-round programme and a small in-house team, they aim to create engaging, memorable experiences while running an efficient and sustainable operation.

In early 2024, the team set out to modernise their ticketing setup. They wanted a simpler way to manage bookings, understand visitor behaviour, and create a modern online shopping experience that better reflected the quality of their events.

The challenge

Kentwell Hall previously relied on fragmented systems that offered little visibility into bookings or event performance. They couldn’t easily compare different experiences, identify where their audience was coming from, or segment campaigns by location.

Like many heritage attractions, they also saw wide seasonal swings - hosting over 3,000 visitors in peak months but fewer than 500 during quieter periods, and wanted better tools to plan promotions and balance demand year-round. Feedback collection was manual and difficult to act on. At the same time, day-to-day admin like building schedules and managing recurring events placed a heavy burden on the team.

They needed a booking partner that could help them streamline operations and unlock new ways to grow.

How we helped

Kentwell Hall started selling tickets online with Beyonk just two weeks after beginning their search for a new system. The team needed a fast turnaround to begin taking bookings ahead of their busy Easter schedule, and Beyonk’s onboarding process ensured they were up and running in time.

From the first sales, Beyonk began mapping customer locations to a live visitor heatmap. Early data showed that 18% of visitors were travelling from within 10 miles, helping the team understand their core audience and lay the groundwork for smarter, location-based outreach.

As bookings grew, postcode sector analysis (e.g. IP29 4) revealed 44 core areas with strong performance, 93 high-potential growth postcodes, and 323 emerging areas ideal for seasonal targeting. This insight now informs both local advertising and offer planning, whether for major events like the Christmas light show or for boosting visits during quieter months. The postcode lists are perfect to import into Meta ad campaigns, allowing the team to target specific areas with tailored messaging.

Kentwell also began collecting visitor feedback through Beyonk’s built-in NPS tools. Reviews are gathered automatically, flagged by event, and made visible in their online shop, providing timely social proof that helps convert new visitors.

Promoters can also be highlighted and their comments shared directly to social media, making it easier for the team to celebrate success and build trust with new audiences.

Beyonk’s improved scheduling tools made it far easier for the team to manage recurring events and time slots across the year - cutting down on admin and freeing them up to focus on visitor engagement. “I was smiling so much a colleague asked what the good news was,” said Callum, after using the new scheduling feature for the first time. “It made me so happy.”

77% of Kentwell Hall’s annual visitors now pre-book online through Beyonk

 

Kentwell Hall welcomes around 21,500 visitors annually - and now, thanks to Beyonk, more than 16,500 of those book online in advance. This shift to pre-booking has given the team better control over attendance, clearer insight into visitor trends, and more opportunity to plan around demand.

In the first six months of 2025 alone, online booking revenue increased by 18% compared to the same period the previous year. The average order value reached £48, peaking at £84 for major seasonal events. The team can now use postcode-level data to guide advertising and balance quieter months with targeted campaigns.
