He is a trainer and assessor of the D of E awards and is AALA accredited to deliver kayaking to youth groups. Through his work and study as an adventure guide, Kieran has over 7 years of experience working with families, groups and for corporate team building days out. Through his work as a Personalisation Coordinator for ROC Active, he has 2 years of experience working with people with accessible needs and coordinating a weekly activity programme of domestic sports and events. Kieran is a Leave No Trace (LNT) trainer, a trained mountain leader, inland kayak and open boat guide. Kieran has training in sea survival, surf kayaking, remote incident management, outdoor first-aid, bushcraft, wild foraging and Eco-psychology. Kieran is a day skipper and has his advanced powerboat licence. Kieran has paddled in several locations around the world. As the founder and president of the University of the Highlands and Islands Paddlesport Club, he organised training sessions, courses, trips and multi-day expeditions and a free kayak club for the community children and adults. Kieran‘s goal is to increase the accessibility of sea kayaking, the benefits from low impact exercise that works your whole body, the soul and the mind. Kieran wants to empower his participants with a skill set to take their kayaking forwards. With the use of tandem kayaks and providing stabilisers and outriggers, he hopes anyone can gain their water confidence. They can then progress onto entry-level touring kayaks and eventually conquering an expedition sea kayak and heading off into the wilderness on their own adventures. Over the next 18 months, he hopes to increase the fleet to have boats for all levels of enthusiasts.
