Highlights
Join me for a Pinhole Photography workshop. Together we load cameras, take photographs and develop prints, watching the real time magic of silver halides changing state in front of us.
If you're tired of living in 60 frames per second and you're ready to slow the pace down and consider the true nature of a still image, this is definitely for you! Just how does light make an impression on a piece of paper anyway? Find out and take time to discover Pinhole Photography, one...photograph...at...a...time.
Sessions start with an introduction to the art at my studio in the beautiful town of Ilminster. Then we load up the cameras to take outside and start shooting. After the shoot we return to studio where, under a red safety light, cameras are opened and images emerge from trays of developer before being fixed, washed and dried.
Pinhole photography naturally creates a more impressionistic image than photography taken with a lens, the natural mood of a pinhole photograph is intriguing and more important than the detail. This is an introduction to the gentle and artistic experience, drawing influence from Pictorialism, and not overly technical ... I promise not to bamboozle you with maths or chemistry, you are welcome to do so in own time!
At the moment these sessions are open to family groups of between two and four people, with a minimum age of 10 years old and last around three hours.
You have the option of making your prints into fridge magnets, or take them home to display in a more authentic way on a piece of string with clothes pegs ... or, opt to frame your masterpiece in a beautiful zinc frame and give it the treatment your art deserves!
There is nothing like seeing your first pinhole photograph emerge under a red light. You will have time to look, think, and wonder. One shot is all it takes.
