Highlights
Join us for a guided walk along the tops of the Cleveland Hills. Starting mid-afternoon and walking towards sunset, as the land changes to the twilight moors. Being high up, see the views across the North York Moors National Park, over the Tees Valley and the Pennines. Watch them change as the day light fades and the darkness takes over.
This is a moderate walk, over exposed moor land with changeable weather. Starting at Clay Bank car park, on the Stokesley to Helmsley Road, and making our way along the escarpment towards Lord Stones. We will return over the tops of Cringle, Cold Moor and the Wainstones, as the light fades and the nighttime landscape takes over.
Because of the nature of the walk, please dress in warm clothing and carry waterproof jackets and trousers. So, hats and gloves will be a must; along with walking boots, wellingtons or good walking shoes. We will supply head torches for you if needed. The ground can be muddy in places and there are some, short, steep sections to negotiate.
Suitable for children 8yrs and over. We are dog friendly, so please bring the pooch! All dogs must be on a lead and use to walk the distance.
This is not only a chance to learn about the moors and their history, but, if you wish to practice your navigation, this is an ideal opportunity. The trip will be lead by David, who is a qualified Summer and Winter Mountain Leader, holds the International Mountain Leader Carnet and is a provider for the National Navigation Award Scheme.
