This one day workshop is a great introduction to map reading and the navigation skills you need to enjoy a great walk in the countryside without reliance on a guidebook or phone app. You will be amazed how much detail there is on an Ordnance Survey map. On this course you will learn to open your eyes to whole new world! We will help you to make sense of it all and gain the confidence to plan and follow an interesting route along recognised paths and tracks.
A relaxed environment and small group (up to six people) to ensure that you get the most out of the day.
What to Expect: We usually start the day with tea/coffee and learn how to get the most out of our maps and introduce basic compass use. Mid morning we set off on a walk to develop your newly acquired knowledge and skills - we will give plenty of expert guidance and tips as we go. We then return to sum up the day.
Expect to walk about 5 or 6 miles during the day on defined paths and tracks (grass/dirt/gravel and may be muddy in parts). Some hills, steep in part and some short sections of rural road.
Joining instructions and course information will be provided before the day.
