This full-day course is designed for climbers who are already confident belaying and want to take the next step toward traditional (trad) climbing outdoors. Whether you’re an experienced indoor climber looking to expand your skills, or someone with some outdoor experience who wants to become more self-reliant, this course offers the perfect introduction to the real mechanics of British trad.
You’ll spend the day seconding your instructor on classic Cornish routes — cleaning gear, learning how to place it yourself, building anchors, and understanding ropework in a multi-point trad environment. It’s a hands-on, highly practical day tailored to your experience level and learning goals, all set against the backdrop of West Cornwall’s iconic golden granite.
You must be competent at belaying a lead climber. If you’re not quite there yet, our
beginner climbing course is the best place to start.
All technical equipment is provided. Bring lunch, water, and clothing suitable for a full day outdoors. The minimum age is 10.
