Babes in the Wood

Our Babes in the Woods Forest School sessions for pre-school age children are back!  We will be running a 5 week block starting from Tuesday 19th April until Tuesday 17th May, from 10.30am - 12 noon at The Fairy Dell, Castlebank Park.  It's a fantastic location with toilets and changing room available and within walking distance of Lanark town centre. We also have use of the community room for making warm drinks and snacks towards the end of the session. Babes in the Wood is a nature based preschool group for adults and their pre-school children to come along, play games, make friends, and learn all about the world around them through exploration, fun and nature connection.  Based on the Forest School prinicples the session are child led and focussed allowing children to dip in and out of activities at their will or explore the environment on their own if they prefer.  At each session we have mud kitchen, tree swing, den building, games and nature crafts for the children to take part in.  All sessions finish with a gathering around the fire for some songs, stories or toasted goodies. There are many benefits for children being involved in a forest school environment from an early age including: Improved fine and gross motor skills Improved balance Connection to nature for positive well being Learning about risks in natural environments Building resilience Increased motivation and concentration Improved problem solving Sense of acheivement Building relationships with other children and leaders Our sessions are ran by trained Forest School Level 3 leaders with full Outdoor First Aid qualifications.  If the weather is looking too cold or windy to run the session we will make arrangements to reschedule the session. Full refunds will be given if you are unable to attend the rescheduled session.
