Itinerary

Arrive at Wordsworth Grasmere and you'll be met at the Museum by your Guide. Following an introductory talk, you'll be taken on an amble through Town End and along the Coffin Route to retrace the Wordsworths' steps as they arrived at Dove Cottage for the very first time. Some of the Wordsworths' favourite places will be highlighted along the way. Walking boots and outdoor clothing are essential.
On your return to Wordsworth Grasmere, you'll be taken on an exclusive guided experience of Dove Cottage, the Wordsworths' bustling family home. In this humble Lake District cottage, you'll feel how a unique combination of people and place came together and changed poetry for ever. Your visit to the Cottage will culminate in a delicious Afternoon Tea, inspired by recipes from the Wordsworths' own collection and served in the Sitting Room - the very place where some of the most famous poems in history were written. You'll be later joined by a curator who will bring with them letters, newspapers and journals, all relating to the day of your visit - over 200 years ago.
Your visit will end with a personal tour of the new Museum, where you will discover William Wordsworth’s remarkable story through a unique collection of some of the greatest treasures from the Romantic age.
National Park Experiences is a curated collection that brings the stories of our National Parks to life. Each experience offers an authentic insight into the landscape and special qualities of a National Park.
