Following an introductory talk we'll take you on an amble through Townend and along the Coffin Route to retrace the Wordsworth's steps as they arrived at Dove Cottage for the very first time. We'll highlight some of the Wordsworth's favourite places along the way. Walking boots and outdoor clothing are essential.
On your return to Wordsworth Grasmere, you'll be taken on an exclusive guided experience of Dove Cottage, the Wordsworth's bustling family home. In this humble Lake District cottage, you'll feel how a unique combination of people and place came together and changed poetry forever. Your visit to the Cottage will culminate in a delicious Afternoon Tea, inspired by recipes from the Wordsworth's own collection and served in the Sitting Room - the very place where some of the most famous poems in history were written. You'll be later joined by a curator who will bring with them letters, newspapers and journals, all relating to the day of your visit - over 200 years ago.
