The North West Classic Ridge course has been put together for people who would like to be guided up and along the classic ridges in the North West Highlands. If conditions allow tackling some of the most famous ridges throughout this three-day course will be an unforgettable experience! The ridges could include Liathach, An Teallach and Forcan Ridge. Any technical equipment, crampons, ice axe, harness & helmet is included in the price ✓ Effectively planning your days in the mountains, using weather and avalanche forecasts ✓ Recap of core winter skills, such as using the ice axe and crampons for approaching climbs ✓ Route finding; interpreting the guide book and while on the route ✓ Coaching to develop movement over 'scrambling' type terrain ✓ Avalanche awareness/avoidance and its implications for safe route choice

Adventure Details

Day 1

Start time 09:00

Day one will concentrate on good footwork, how to tie in, belay safely. How to select, build safe anchors and manage your stance efficiently.

Day 2

On day two we can have a look at applying our skills from day one on an easy climb, ridge to put our skills into context while drip feeding some more techniques along the way.

What you'll need to bring

  • Warm Clothing B2-B3 style boots, Winter walking socks (We advise wearing 2-3 thinner layers rather than one thick layer so you can adjust your temperature during the activity)
  • Waterproofs Quality waterproofs i.e. Gore-tex or similar, Hat, waterproof gloves plus spares x 2 minimum
  • Food Lunch
  • Drink Warm drink
  • Other 'Belay' type jacket Rucksack 30-40ltr
    Wicking base layers, top & bottoms Goggles, double clear lens recommended Head torch, plus spare batteries Balaclava and neck gaiter
