Day 1
Cairn Toul, Sgor and Lochan Uaine & Braeraich
Stats - 28km, 1850mtrs, 10 -12 hours
With a big day ahead, we opt for an early start at the sugar bowl car park. We have a quick kit check before heading towards the Chalamain gap where we take in the fabulous views of the Northern Corries before making our way into the Lairig Ghru. from here we head towards the remote bothy of Garbh Corie. From here we intend to head up the north ridge of Cairn Toul for our breathtaking views across the Cairngorms. Now over towards Sgor and Lochan Uaine, the legs feeling the tough day, especially on the last ascent to Braeraich. We then head back towards the Lairig Ghru and retrace our track back to the sugar bowl.
Day 2
Ben Macdui, Cairngorm
Stats - 17km, 1100mtrs, 6 - 8 hours
A welcomed shorter day as we head over the vast expanse of the main Cairngorm plateau. From the car park we head towards the stunning cliffs of the Northern Corries, before gaining height, looking over towards the peaks that we ascended the day before. Onward and upward we head towards the peak of Ben Macdui, with stunning views across the national park and beyond as far as the eye can see. We then make our way towards the northern corries and handrail the rims with memorable views into Coire and Lochain and Coire ant-Sneachdta before heading up to the weather station on the top of Cairngorm. We also have the option of refreshments at the restaurant for the ski centre before heading down 'windy ridge' towards the car park.
