Highlights
One of the primary aims of going on an expedition, is to develop the ability to operate independently and to promote self-reliance and self-confidence.
To this end we will help you develop those skills to help you become safely self reliant in the hills.
On this course you will enjoy 3 days navigating in the mountains, 2 nights wild camping and an opportunity to hone your skills in a night navigation exercise.
Day 1
Meet - Check check and depart on foot from local area, we will be working on 1:25000 scale maps.
Expect 4 - 5 hours walking on day. It will be a casual pace taking in plenty of rest breaks.
We will aim to arrive at a suitable wild camping site in good daylight.
Guests will prepare a meal and take part in a night navigation exercise (optional) for 2 hours.
Day 2
Break camp, journey into the higher mountain regions and travel over steeper ground looking at some simple rope techniques for walkers.
On day 2 we will be measuring distance and using a compass to aid decision making and master walking on a bearing.
The second and third day will be planned by the participants under guidance from the Instructing member of staff Day 3
After breaking camp we'll continue our journey through the hills and finish off with some river crossing drills.
The course will conclude mid afternoon.
