Taking in incredible deserted beaches, a diverse and exciting mix of wildlife, stunning sunsets and beautiful rugged coastline meeting unspoiled countryside - this is a truly unique part of the World to explore.

Day 1

Team members arrive in Oban the evening of 11th August 2018 at the designated hostel (exact location will be confirmed in your detailed itinerary which you will receive closer to the expedition start date). On arrival you will be greeted by your expedition leader and shown to your accommodation for the night. Once all members of the team have arrived in Oban you will be given a brief by your expedition leader who will set out the overarching plan for the expedition and deliver key detail for the following day’s events.

Day 2

Your Adventure Starts Now! Cycle: 8 Miles. Your adventure starts now! The morning after your arrival we are up and about. After a final kit check you will board the ferry to take you over to the Outer Hebrides, this crossing is a fantastic opportunity to spot a range of aquatic wildlife whilst getting to know your fellow team members. Once you arrive at the Isle of Barra you will begin your epic journey along the Hebridean Way, finishing that evening at Castlebay overlooking the coastline and the 11th Century Kisimul Castle.

Day 3

Crossing Barra, South Uist and onto Benbecula! Cycle: 42 Miles. Your first big day on your bike! You will leave Castlebay and cycle across the stunning Isle of Barra, and after a quick journey across the sea by ferry, enter South Uist; remote, wild and totally stunning. You will cycle through isolated villages and see how the ancient farming technique of crofting is still practised, whilst at no point being more than a few miles away from the striking coastline. That day you will finish on Benbecula, a small, quaint island housed between its two larger bothers, South and North Uist!

Day 4

Benbecula and North Uist! Cycle: 18 Miles. Post breakfast you will continue your journey along the islands and after a short ride leave Benbecula and enter North Uist via a classic Outer Hebridean causeway! Your shorter ride today will ensure you have plenty of time to enjoy the many other Hebridean delights on offer. Your free time can be spent wandering around beautiful bays along peaceful lanes and trails on rugged North Uist. Or if that sounds to energetic you can relax whilst enjoying world class sea views from the comfort of your grass covered wooden hut accommodation whilst stoking your very own traditional Hebridean Peat Fire!

Day 5

North Uist, Bernaray & Harris! Cycle: 41 Miles. Once you’ve managed to drag yourself away from your Peat Fire with a sea view you will continue your journey across North Uist! At no point will you be more than a few hundred meters from the sea as you ride through an unspoilt landscape and onto the Isle of Bernaray! From here your journey will see you once again cross the sea to the Isle of Harris – BRACE YOURSELF…the Isle of Harris is stunning! Once firmly back on dry land you will ride along coastline that will keep you wanting more and more. That afternoon you will end the day at your accommodation which is conveniently located just meters from the sea and besides being a wildlife hotspot, will provide you with sunsets like nowhere else in the UK!

Day 6

Continue across Harris! Cycle: 16 Miles. Again, once you’ve managed to drag yourself away from your unspoilt sea view you will continue across Harris. Today will see you cycle take on some of the highest mountains the Outer Hebrides has to offer! Don’t be put off, once at top the magnificent views stretch for miles across the islands and over to mainland Scotland. Once you begin to decent you will to treated to some of the best beaches the world has to offer, completely unspoilt and very much resembling how they would have looked thousands of years ago.

Day 7

Harris and Lewis! Cycle: 35 miles. Today you will tick off some real world beating sites! After leaving your accommodation we soon say goodbye to Harris and enter Lewis. Wow does Lewis deliver, you will continue across this majestic landscape which as always never fails to deliver on its incredible coastline and ruggedly beautiful countryside. You will discover the ancient stone circles at Callanish, which were erected in the Neolithic era and remain as unspoilt today as the day they were established. You will continue your journey across Lewis to your accommodation for the night which will trick you into believing you have gone back in time hundreds of years! Your staying in a traditional Hebridean Blackhouse, complete with sea view!

Day 8

Lewis & Success! Cycle: 30 Miles. Your final push to the finish line! After waving goodbye to the past you re-enter the 21st Century and make your way to the finish line, the Butt of Lewis Lighthouse! At the most northerly point of the islands the lighthouse and the wild coastline make a fitting location for what has been a truly unique and wild adventure. You have done it, you have conquered the wild and cycled the length of the Wild Islands! Elated to have completed the epic Hebridean Way and, after having had the chance to take in the moment, you will be driven to Stornoway, move into your accommodation for the night and be given the opportunity to celebrate your success.

Day 9

Return to Oban. The following morning you will board the ferry to Ullapool and be driven back to Oban where the expedition official ends. Don’t despair you will have made some incredible memories and journeyed though an archipelago set within Britain’s final frontier!
