Highlights
Paddling was one of the fundamental skills used for hunting, fishing and travelling for our ancestors and a way of life for early western colonisers. We have since removed ourselves from this primitive way of life, but feel so fulfilled when we spend time back within these environments.
Sea Kayaking has been proven to reduce stress and facilitates a decrease in anxiety, depression as well as promoting relaxation which provides a sense of calmness and peace.
Our tours are an opportunity for you to return to the waters and clear out life's stresses and strains through the rhythmic motion of paddling that can be channelled as a form of meditation. Focusing on your breathing and body whilst working with the gentle flow of the ocean and taking in the overwhelming beauty and grandeur of the stupendous coastline you are paddling around allows the mind to drift.
The sensational feeling of bobbing up and down on the water reminds you of the forces that are in constant motion and the power that there is within.
For those who find physical activities like Thai Chi or Yoga beneficial, Paddling improves your physical condition in a natural environment where you also gain vitamin D intake. Sea Kayaking as a low impact activity can improve aerobic fitness, strength and flexibility and that even the most leisurely paddle will give you a good aerobic workout.
Aerobic exercise increases endurance, improves heart health, improves the regulation of cholesterol levels, decreases blood sugar levels, and lowers blood pressure, decreases body fat and builds better lung strength.
Few exercises provide the entertainment range of kayaking. Paddling uses most of a person’s upper body muscles and uses many of the lower body muscles in balancing and leg strength, as the power released through the arms is produced through rotating the torso and applying pressure with your legs. It’s possible to navigate the boat just through balance and leg movements, which keeps your entire body active during the activity.
It has been proven to improve joint health; low-impact movements improve and maintain healthy joints. The act of paddling itself improves range of motion while improving flexibility which keeps joints fluid and lubricated.
We take you on a journey back in time to discover an area steeped in history and world-famous geology. The beauty of the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark geology is the ability to find tranquillity due to its many secluded coves.
In order to avoid the noises of pleasure craft we run our mindfulness tours mid week from April the 1st to July 1st and September 5th to October 28th.
As we return from our tour we are always heading into the sun and the back of the bay where everything becomes golden and sparkly. A magical time of day to be paddling and as you have already accomplished so much your mind is freely wondering over the vastness it has encountered.
We have an amazing array of marine wildlife and we are very likely to encounter Seals and potentially Harbour Porpoises and Common Dolphins.
We will take a break on a secluded cove where we will have a fire and look at the geology and magnificent rocks we find on our remote beaches. Here we will also create Rock Art that you can picture and take the photo and memory away with you
