Learn to Sea Kayak in a world-famous watering hole, The English Riviera. Our introductory courses empower you to take your kayaking to the next level or all the tools you will need to kick start your journey in the world of paddling.
You will train on land and sea taking in the holistic nature of Sea Kayaking and its environment. You will master easy techniques to steer your craft with your body. This naturally increases your glide and your ability to manoeuvre. You are able to progress at your own rate or just come and enjoy the adventure and try something new. Most paddlers find that after the course there paddling ability, knowledge, and awareness are significantly increased.
Over the two days, you will launch from sheltered areas of the bay and develop a range of paddling skills and techniques. You will take a journey each day to find interesting features to play around and practice the skills and techniques acquired in manoeuvring your craft. You will get to land in multiple shorelines and learn how to safely land on rocks or in exposed areas where landing may seem impossible.
You will learn to launch and land in small surf, of pontoons, slipways, beaches, banks and rocks. As you progress you will see how to use these skills in a range of environments and different conditions.
Each day you can try different crafts and equipment, which will then stretch your abilities and when you return to your original craft you will find you have a greater range of comfortable movement.
We will look at safety equipment, clothing, and accessories that can benefit you and your future development in the sport.
Throughout the course, you will also develop your knowledge of trip planning, as well as weather and tidal navigation. You will even plan the journey for day two, using the skills we learn on Day 1.
