Highlights
The Edale Skyline Challenge is a challenging, 21-mile circular walk around the Peak District National Park. It’s a popular fell-running route, but we’ll take a more relaxed pace and aim to complete the walk in 8-10 hours.
This is the ideal walk for anyone wanting to push their limits and set a challenging, but an achievable personal goal to work towards.
Total Distance: 21.5 MILES
Vertical Ascent: 1,300 METRES
Average Duration: 8-10 HOURS
Difficulty Rating: 3.0
Starting in the village of Hope, we’ll begin the day with a gentle ascent of Lose Hill, which offers fantastic views of the Dark Peak area, before heading over the ridge and Hollins Cross towards the summit of Mam Tor.
From Mam Tor, we continue along Rushup Edge, via Brown Knoll towards Kinder Scout, famous as the site of the 1932 Mass Trespass – when ramblers from nearby cities peacefully protested on what was then private land, leading to the formation of the UK’s first National Park, the Peak District in 1951.
After traversing the Kinder plateau, we’ll stick to the North side of the Edale valley and make our way over to the final summit of the day, Win Hill, before descending back down into Hope for a well-earned rest.
