Wake to the sound of the birds before packing your tent up and paddling off for chance encounters with puffins, seals and razorbills.  Spend the day exploring the many islands within this amazing archipelago.  Meet new people, and re-live the day's adventures over a drink in the island pub, before perhaps walking up the hill to watch the sunset. Then it's back to the tent for a well earned sleep.

Have you ever wanted to go on a journey in a sea kayak?  Carrying everything you need with you, travelling with the wind and weather, and exploring what comes along?  Challenging yourself to live light?  Then join us.  Just enjoy being guided or make the most of our experienced instructors and gain tuition as you go. The cost includes your guiding fee, kayaking kit (boat, spray deck, paddle, buoyancy aid, cag, helmet and long john wetsuit) and camping fees.

This trip is for intermediate paddlers depending on the weather some of the crossings can present more of a challenge, therefore this trip is not suitable for complete beginners (beginners welcome on our 4 day trips). You must be able to do the following:
  • Paddle a sea kayak,
  • Paddle 5 days in a row, for an average of 4-6 hours a day depending on the weather and the group
  • Carry your camping kit from the beach to the campsite which may be up to a 500m away
  • Travel light and be happy to sleep in a small tent
  • Have had some experience of paddling in either lumpy seas, windy conditions or moderate waters at times

The easiest way to find out if the trip is for you is to give us a call and chat it through with us. If you spend a lot of time on the water doing other sports then your confidence and sea awareness may be good enough.

This trip includes four and a half days of sea kayaking and your camping fee for five nights.  The Isles of Scilly has many designated Sites of Scientific Interest and therefore does not allow wild camping.  However this gives us an opportunity to support local businesses and enjoy the advantage of a shower after a day on the water.  In May the campsites are quieter enabling us to choose our route based on the weather.  We will begin and finish on the island of St Martins with the option of camping at St Agnes or Bryher or both.  Below is an example itinerary:

Day One - You will arrive on St Mary's at about midday and catch the inter-island ferry to St Martin's where we will meet you on the quay.  After setting up camp we begin with an afternoon paddle to ease you back into it and get you used to the kit.  Then its back on land in time for a quick change and off to the pub to enjoy the view and some food for those that wish to join us.

Day Two - We will pack our tents and fill our kayaks for a trip to Bryher where we will camp on night 2.  The exact routes each day will be weather dependent and will be decided on a day to day basis. Our aim will be to explore lots of the islands.  On route we have the possibility of exploring Round Island, Men-a-Vaur, St Helens, Tean, and Tresco.

Day Three - There is much to explore from Bryher so we will aim to camp here for a second night enabling the opportunity of a kayak around the Northern rocks and Samson, or a paddle to explore St Agnes if the weather allows.

Day Four - We will pack up  before heading back to St Martins.  This may enable us to enjoy the Eastern Isles and the resident seals.

Day Five - We can paddle around the island of St Martins or head out to Men-a-Vaur if we have not already managed to get there.  We will end the week with dinner in the pub for those that wish to join us.

Make sure you book your ferry home for 'Day six' or you will miss your last day of kayaking. The inter-island ferry leaves St Martins around 10.30 giving you lots of time to explore the historic Garrison of St Mary's, or enjoy the local food and drink, before catching the Scillonian back to Penzance. Obviously you can stay longer, you will just need to arrange this accommodation separately yourself.

Above is an example of the trip we aim to provide, weather conditions will dictate our exact routes and may mean camping for more or less time on particular islands.

Please note that we also offer 3 and 4 day trips based from St Martin's that are more suitable for complete beginners and upwards.

When paying you have the choice to pay a £100 deposit or to pay in full.  There is a small booking fee.
