If you are accustomed to using a map and compass to navigate, but wish to improve to be more confident in tackling more challenging terrain or weather then this course may be for you. This one day course offers you improved confidence and ability in navigating outdoors with map and compass. This course takes place on Dartmoor and has a particular focus on navigating on open moorland away from paths, using a wide variety of advanced techniques to pinpoint your position accurately. We will include skills such as timing and pacing to measure distance, relocation techniques, micronavigation and use of small feature and many other more advanced uses of the map and compass.
