British Canoeing Discover Award (canoe)

The Discover Award is an entry-level paddlesport certificate offered by Paddle UK (British Canoeing). This 1-day course takes place just outside Taunton and covers all the skills needed to achieve the Discover award.
The course:
During the course, you develop a better understanding of the fundamentals of paddling. You will look at equipment, be introduced to a range of paddling strokes and skills, learn self-rescue techniques, gain confidence in paddling, and undertake a journey. We do our best to tailor the course to your needs, and there will be plenty of time to practice and gain full confidence in all the newly taught skills. The day aims to develop your decision making and practical skills as you become a more skilled and independent paddler.

🧰 Equipment - All safety equipment, and canoes
📋 Other - Friendly expert coaching. We can also supply you with all the necessary paddling clothing and gear.
 
What you'll need
🧤 Warm Clothing - You will need dry clothing for afterward and appropriate paddling clothing for the season.
🍴 Food - Some lunch.
📋 Other - If you have your own canoe and paddling gear then do bring it. If not we can happily supply everything required
