Join our experienced leaders to explore a hidden cove such as Boggle Hole or Runswick Bay on the North York Moors Heritage Coast. We’ll help you to find the secret creatures hiding in rock pools, to discover Jurassic fossils, forage for seashore snacks, and then to cook and eat some of the food you’ve found, which is extra tasty when cooked on an open beach fire!
Itinerary
Our team of experts will lead you on a journey of discovery which will include the following (depending on the wishes of the group):
- Fossil hunting for Jurassic fossils from 200 million years ago, including dinosaur footprints and the world-famous ammonites and Whitby Jet -
- Explore the rock pools and rocky shoreline to meet the animals and plants that live there, some of which (seaweed, shell fish, crabs and lobsters) we will forage to provide a beach cooked meal.
- Cook your own beach based meal over an open firepit including the items you found, supplemented by high quality locally sourced produce e.g. crispy seaweed, crab and lobster, and home baked flatbreads
- Depending on the time of year/day, it may also be possible to add in an evening of stargazing to see the North York Moors Coastline in an entirely different light.
National Park Experiences is a curated collection that brings the stories of our National Parks to life. Each experience offers an authentic insight into the landscape and special qualities of a National Park.
