Half Day Experience!
What epitomises Torbay is the view from the sea. We are overwhelmed by the sheer beauty and grandeur of the beautiful place we live in – and the geological history of what makes Torbay the stupendous coastal adventure playground that it is. It’s something rarely seen by the average visitor, of course, but it’s getting up close and personal to the multitude of rocks, coves, caves and inlets making up the 20 miles and 22 beaches of Torbay’s coastline that brings it all to life. This is the foundation on which SKT is built: the sheer amazement at what Torbay’s coastline has to offer, our wish to share with everyone the excitement we feel every time we go out.
That needs to be done safely, of course, and that is where SKT’s expertise comes in. Kieran, a fully qualified and enthusiastic tour guide, provides the perfect environment to enjoy all this in 6 different tour options and a wide variety of packages ranging from a couple of hours’ paddle to a 3-day coastal tour, all suitable for either the beginner paddler or the more experienced one.
Join us for a half day adventure anywhere in the English Riviera to discover our world famous UNESCO Global Geopark.
Available to Everyone
If you haven’t been kayaking for years or if this is the first time, you’ll be amazed by this easy option. We’ll take care of the logistics to ensure you have a stable and comfortable boat, paddles, and buoyancy aid, and we’ll teach you the basics.
Spending half a day exploring the English Riviera is still an excellent choice if you don’t have time for a full-day. You’ll easily be able to access stunning features and remote coves. The morning tour starts at 10.00 and in the afternoon starts at 14.00.
What to Bring
Bring snacks and water with you, and in the summer months we recommend shorts and sports tops. Conditions can change, but we outfit you with any technical clothing that you may require.
Don’t Miss a Thing
We carry a waterproof camera so we can snap images as we go. We will happily forward them to you afterwards.
ItineraryEach tour is personalised to you and your group and guided by owner Kieran Laureston, an expert on the water, in the local history, heritage, geology and marine biology.
With 22 beaches within 20 miles of coastline there are so many caves and coves to explore! We will work with you to find the tour that best suits your groups motivations and abilities. The launch will be confirmed 7 days prior to delivery when we can see the wind direction and strength. With 8 launch locations within the Bay there is shelter available from all wind directions unless it is over 15kmph and from the east, we are able to deliver exceptional tours.
Depending on your groups desires we can leisurely paddle around the Geopark on an adventure to explore limestone and sandstone caves, natural arches and a whole different world in the inter-tidal zone. Or go for a more physical paddle and head out to our own islands; Thatcher and the Orestone
Rock, with its stunning Guillemot colony.
We will stop on a remote beach for a picnic and if we take the fishing gear, cook anything we catch on hot-stones on the way.
Bird Watching Tours are available from May to July when the sea colonies are here nesting and fletching. They are mostly gone now around mid July.
