Highlights
Woodland Wildlife Walks from Okehampton Station From the picturesque old Okehampton station, take a guided walking ‘taxi’ through the wild Dartmoor woodlands and into town (1.5 hours) where you can choose to visit a range of interesting shops and attractions, or stop and find refreshment at the friendly cafes or pubs. Book an afternoon slot (another 1.5 hours) and in good time to catch your return train, your walk guide will take a different woodland route back to the station. Take your memories and photos with you on your journey home from a Dartmoor day out with a difference. Highlights of the walking routes include an experience of deep green ancient woodlands that follow the rivers of Dartmoor as they tumble from the moor into a traditional Devon market town. These beautiful woods are home to scarce mammals including woodland bats and dormice and the lichen clad trees stand over mossy carpets where clusters of ferns grow, capturing the ancient atmosphere of ‘temperate rainforests’. Meet Matt, a local naturalist, wildlife expert and walk guide. As you leave the train at Okehampton Station, take a walk through the woods around the moorland edge. Wildlife by the Tracks – a range of guided walks to follow the seasons around Okehampton and the wooded Dartmoor valleys. From Spring bluebells through the lush summer trees and glowing autumn leaves Inclusions What you'll need ☂️ Waterproofs - The Dartmoor weather can be changeable so please bring a coat and suitable outdoor footwear
