A Welsh hill weekend with a twist. We will be following the classic "Fan Dance Route" on the Saturday. Other companies offer a chance to beast yourself against the clock on this classic Special Forces selection march, we offer those with an interest a chance to walk the route at a pace suitable for all with two of our instructors who have completed the Fan Dance in the military. Wild camp with our instructors in the home of SF Selection under Army style bashas, sit around a fire and listen to some stories, learn some valuable fieldcraft skills and enjoy a stunning sunrise from the summit of Pen y Fan.
Day 1
We will get together as a group at the Pontsticill Reservoir car park. Drive North out of the village of Pontsticill and the reservoir car park will be on your right. This is because where we are taking you a postcode and satnav will not work! Once the group is together we will take a short drive into the mountains and set up camp where you will be camping under military style "bashas".
Day 2
After a very early morning wake up call (and maybe some strong coffee!) you will enjoy sunrise on the top of Pen y Fan. At times you will briefly see what pace is required to pass the real selection test, enjoy the views and perhaps a war story or two along the way. Due to the early start we will finish early afternoon and have plenty of time to set up camp and enjoy some time around the fire.
Day 3
On the Sunday we change pace and rest our weary legs - we will stay in the beautiful woodland and visit some of the areas stunning waterfalls including Sgwd yr Eira (one of the only waterfalls in the UK that you can safely walk behind) - great for a photo opportunity. Day 3 starts and finishes at the Cwm Porth Car park (CF44 9 JF) a short drive from where we started.
