Highlights
A 4-day journey across the Lake District taking in the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike, as well as other luminaries such as Fairfield, Helvellyn, and Blencathra. We will start at Wasdale Head and tackle Scafell Pike with fresh legs before dropping down to Langdale and our first campsite which is a short walk away from the iconic Old Dungeon Ghyll hotel.
Day 2 will see us walking out of Langdale along a very picturesque low-level route before heading north to ascend Fairfield. From the summit, we drop down to our campsite for the night at a remote mountain tarn.
After a night of wild camping, we will head straight up Dollywagon Pike before traversing the entire Helvellyn range en route to our campsite for the night.
After a good nights sleep, we will climb Blencathra by the fabulous Halls Fell Ridge route and finish with a celebratory pint of local ale in the pub at the bottom.
This event can be a bespoke adventure, for groups of more than 4. If you have a group of 4 or more who wish to book a bespoke date, please get in touch with your guide!
Day 1
Meet at Threlkeld where we will board a minibus to take us to Wasdale Head, our start point for this adventure. Once at Wasdale Head, we will ascend Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England via the Brown Tongue/Hollowstones route before dropping down to Langdale and our first overnight stop at a lovely valley campsite. A short stroll away is the famous Old Dungeon Gyll Inn where we can relax and eat our evening meal if you don't fancy cooking for yourself.Day 2
Day 2 will see us up bright and early and after breakfast we will take a lovely low level route out of Langdale to Rydal and then up onto Fairfield. From the summit we will descend to Grisedale Tarn where we will camp for the night, high in the mountains. You will need to bring your own food for this stop as there are no shops or pubs nearby - this is wild camping at its best.Day 3
Breakfast with a view (weather permitting) will be followed by a stiff climb up onto Dollywagon Pike before we traverse the entire Helvellyn range, heading North to our next stop, a lovely little campsite just outside of Threlkeld. A short walk takes you into Threlkeld itself where there are a number of pubs where we can eat, should you so choose.Day 4
Our last day! Breakfast first and then a short walk into Threlkeld where you may wish to take the opportunity to leave your tent and camping gear in your car before we head up onto Blencathra. We will ascend either Halls Fell Ridge or Sharp Edge, depending on weather, group ability and desire for something a bit spicy. After a quick break at the top where hopefully the weather will be kind enough to allow us a great view, we will head back down to Threlkeld. A celebratory pint in the pub and we are all done and you can head off home to share photographs with loved ones and reflect on a great mountain journey.
