Rock Climbing on Portland

The running of this activity is subject to sufficiently fine weather, we reserve the right to cancel in poor weather.

Portland is a magnificent coastal venue offering a plethora of climbing opportunity a stones throw from the sea.  We will climb at Cheyenne Wears, a beautiful Jurassic Coastline spot featuring the classic white-grey limestone and chert bed cliffs. A small lay-by area provides off road parking.


Overview 

We will meet you in the lay-by / carpark as shown in the link on google maps.  A short walk from the car will bring us to the cliff top and an array of huge square boulders, originally quarried on the Island. 
Having briefly discussed the session and arranged safety gear for everyone, we will follow the short path down to the base of the cliffs and get started with some climbing. There are many climbs to choose from, ranging from relatively easy to very challenging routes to the top - something for everyone. 
We can fit an abseil in during the course of the day if participants wish. 
Their will be some flexibility over the course of the day, and staying within a general framework, we will endeavor to accommodate the inclinations of the group on the day. 


Who is the day for

• those who haven't been rock climbing before 
  those who have done a little climbing on a top rope inside, but haven't climbed outside before 
  those who have climbed on a top rope outside before, had great fun doing so, and want to climb more outside! 
  those who have or haven't abseiled before 

 Under 18's must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian
