Highlights
This course is the best place to start if you’re haven’t rock climbed before, or if you’ve only ever climbed indoors. Over the course of the day, you’ll learn about climbing grades and guidebooks, kit and equipment, basic rope work systems and we’ll develop your rock-climbing ability and movement skills through personalised coaching. Alongside this we’ll do our best to take in some of the finest rock climbs that the Peak District and the UK has to offer. By the end of the course, you will come away feeling confident in your own rock-climbing ability and the basic rope systems that are used to keep you safe.ItineraryWho is this course for?
This course is great for anyone who wants to start enjoying the delights of rock climbing – no previous climbing experience is required. What is the course aim?
To introduce you to the delights, and the fundamental skills, of rock climbing. What is the course content?
On the first morning of your course your instructor will chat to you, and the other course participants, about your previous experience and aspirations which will enable them to tailor the course to everyone’s needs. As such it’s hard to provide a definitive list of topics, therefore a sample of some of the topics that are likely to be covered are provided below: Individualised coaching to improve your climbing movement skills, use of essential equipment- fitting and adjusting harness & helmet, basic rope work- tying in and belaying (including holding a fall and lowering) and an introduction to climbing grades and guidebooks.
