Highlights
Whether it’s paddling quietly over still water or negotiating rapids on a river, there are few activities that facilitate connection to the natural environment quite like open canoeing. With its numerous large lakes and a network of beautiful rivers, the Lake District has to be one of the best places to give it a try.
This is a full-day activity that is designed to be inspiring and insightful. We aim to take you on an unforgettable trip and will show you some of the fundamental skills and techniques required to manoeuvre your canoe safely and efficiently. If conditions allow, we may even put up a sail and harness the power of the wind!
It is possible that we may start and finish in different locations (and even on different lakes!) Our exact route will be dictated by the weather and conditions, however, we will use our wealth of local knowledge and experience to give you the best day possible. Along the way, we will stop for lunch and perhaps show you some bushcraft skills, such as how to build a shelter and light a fire using a fire steel to boil water in a kelly kettle and make a well-earned brew. This is a great activity for friends and family!
