Booking Policy

Mount Edgcumbe Alpaca Experience waiver agreement.
The client agrees to the following terms:
 • You must be 14 + to walk your own Alpaca (proof of age may be requested on-site)
 • If you are between 8 and 14 years of age, then you must share an Alpaca with a responsible adult. Responsible adults must hold the halters with two hands at all times to ensure control of the animal.
 • Strictly no children under the age of 8 on the trekking experience
 • A maximum of two persons per Alpaca
 • In extreme weather (where conditions are considered to be dangerous) Mount Edgcumbe Country Park reserves the right to cancel the Alpaca Experience without notice. Under these circumstances an alternative arrangement will be offered and failing that a refund will be given less any relevant booking fee taken by third parties (2% credit card handling charge)
 • Where clients refuse to follow instructions given by handlers we reserve the right to refuse your further participation.
 • Mount Edgcumbe Country Park reserves the right to stop or prevent a trek should any person pose a risk to themselves, to other walkers, to staff or to the Alpacas
 • If you are late for your booked Alpaca Experience you may lose your slot and you will not be refunded (please ring ahead – we will always endeavour to help if we can).
 • You must be aware that alpacas can be nervous of people and of sudden or boisterous behaviour. You must also accept that in certain rare situations alpacas can kick or spit if they feel threatened or when excited. You must be prepared for this and follow all instructions given by the handlers, wear thick socks and wellingtons or sturdy boots.
• Please disinfect your shoes before and after entering the enclosure.
• You must always wash your hands with soap and water after coming in contact with alpacas and their equipment. This is especially true before eating or drinking. Do not touch your eyes or mouth without washing your hands with soap and water. Never kiss the animals.
• Pregnant women and young children can be especially at risk. Animals will groom themselves and pass live bacteria onto their fur which can include cryptosporidium parvum, E.Coli 0157 and salmonella. Gels and wet wipes will not remove these ‘bugs’ – always wash with soap and water first. If you do not follow these instructions and become infected we cannot be held responsible.
• If you are involved in feeding the animals you must be aware that the feed may contain nuts or traces of nut. Anyone with nut allergies should not come into contact with the animal feed. • Please be aware that the trek will take place across uneven ground. Whilst established routes will avoid rough terrain the trekker should be aware before agreeing to set out that slip and trip hazards will be present in the fields and they must take their time and wear suitable footwear for the outdoors and the conditions on the day.
• There can be no running please.
• We will not allow clients to participate if they arrive with open toed shoes or flip-flops.
