Lakeland Maze Farm Park

About Lakeland Maze Farm Park

Raines Hall Farm is a working farm, so as well as cattle, sheep and various breeds of pig, there are ferrets, rabbits, small rodents, llamas, alpacas, goats, horses and donkeys! With plenty of different animals to see, everyone will have a favourite! Raines Hall Farm, the home of Lakeland Maze Farm Park has been owned by the Wadsworth family for 100 years this spring. A family farm which has always been busy, is now a fun place for all to visit. Once a dairy farm housing over 200 cattle, many of the buildings on site today have been converted, the pet barn being the old milking parlour, and the ferret hut the old bull pen! Still a working farm to this day, we now focus on farming free range laying chickens down our hen shed. Our on site tractor ride takes you on a tour of the farm and some of the many acres of land the chickens get to roam. We also farm pigs on a small scale, with their meat being for sale in our on site self service egg and farm shop. In 2004 owners Graham and Jane decided to grow a maize maze and open their doors to the public. Since then the park has expanded to include play equipment, petting areas, purpose built all weather mazes, a café, soft play area and so much more. Each year something new and exciting happens, so no visit is ever the same! Raines Hall remains the Wadsworth’s family home and all generations of the family still get stuck in. Edmund can be found tinkering with his vintage tractors, and Graham often down the hen shed with young son Isaac and Isla the sheepdog giving him a helping hand!

Booking Policy

Due to the new government legislation of social gatherings of a maximum of 6 people including children, we are now only accepting bookings of 6 people or less. This also applies to walk ins. If you are in a household or support bubble of larger than 6 then please inform us on arrival. If anyone in your group has any symptoms, please stay at home and rearrange your visit to a future date. If you have booked already please contact us so we can transfer the date.

Tickets are only valid for the day you book them for so please double check before you complete your order. To ensure we have enough room for people to social distance on site we are limiting ticket numbers each day. If you are a season ticket holder please only book if you are planning on coming, as we want everyone to be able to have a chance to visit – no shows will be recorded. Tickets may be available on the day if there is space but pre-booking is recommended to secure your tickets for your chosen day. To be able to complete your booking you must read and agree to the health and safety terms and conditions on the booking form to enable faster admission on site.

These highlight important safety information and that any children under your care are your responsibility to supervise and ensure they behave in a safe manner whilst on site. Season ticket holders must book online if wanting to visit between 10am-3pm. Entry after 3pm can turn up without booking. ON THE DAY
Entry to site is from 10am, last entry 3pm and closing time is 5pm. Last entry to the mazes is 3.30pm. FROM 8/8/2020 FACE COVERINGS MUST BE WORN IN ALL INDOOR AREAS OF THE FARM PARK. Children under 11 years are not required to wear a mask but if they are happy to please encourage this. Visitors with certain disabilities or health conditions are exempt from wearing face coverings. We fully support the ‘sunflower lanyard’ scheme which helps highlight hidden disabilities. Please ensure any disposable face masks or gloves are placed in bins and not left around the site. If there are large queues into the main entrance when you arrive please wait in your car until we have managed the queues and there is safe space to queue whilst maintaining social distancing. We have always encouraged regular handwashing on site and continue to do so.

There are also various hand sanitiser stations on site to be used as well as and not instead of regular handwashing. Please remind all group members to avoid touching their face and to cover their nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing and dispose of any tissues immediately in a bin. We have built safety screens on site and staff members may be wearing various types of PPE. We are all super friendly though so please say hello! We will be encouraging contactless and card payments on site where possible, although cash will be accepted if necessary.

There is a one-way system in place on site, along with additional signage and social distancing markers. Please follow the system and markers to keep each other safe. We reserve the right to ask visitors to leave if they are behaving in a way which puts others at risk. We are unable to supply welly hire this year for hygiene reasons, so please ensure you bring suitable outdoor footwear – wellies, walking shoes etc that you do not mind getting muddy.

All our food and drink are to be ordered from our outdoor serving hatches and will be served in takeaway containers with eco friendly disposable cutlery also available. You may bring these to eat indoors or outdoors. At present our indoor play and soft play areas are closed. Although the guidelines have now changed and we are legally able to open these areas, the reopening regulations are vast and we have not yet been able to determine if it is feasible and safe to open these areas. We have a wide range of outdoor activities and animal barns, as well as the maize mazes. Please see boards around site for the day’s activities as these may change over the course of the summer. In the event of bad weather on site, please try to spread out over all our buildings to ensure all groups can maintain social distance from each other.

We want to ensure you have the best day out, so please get in touch if you have any questions, or speak to a staff member on site.
