Intermediate Sea Kayaking Course
Is this course for you?
Have you had some experience in a kayaked as part of a group or club, or as a solo adventurer? Do you feel you have mastered the basics on flat water and would like to start pushing your comfort levels in more dynamic conditions? You don’t need to have a reliable roll but it should be something you are keen to develop. You should be comfortable kayaking in wind (potentially up to F4) and be comfortable to launch and land through small waves. Would you like to develop the knowledge and confidence required to explore the more committing stretches of our coastline, start playing in the surf and tide races and know how to rescue your pier?. If so, this course could be for you.
What to Expect…
We will introduce you to paddling in wind, waves and tide conditions whilst advancing the basics of boat handling, rescues and tidal planning. We offer a range of courses from 2 days to 5 days throughout the year. The multi-day courses allow more time to develop skills and explore different environments and venues around the Pembrokeshire coastline. Emphasis of the course is on sea kayak handling & skills development. This course can be tied in with British Canoeing Personal Performance Sea Awards. If this is required, please make this known upon booking and we will assess your ability throughout the week (a small admin fee is involved to register the award with British Canoeing ).
