10am - 5pm

Climbing out of Helmsley catch sight of Helmsley Castle before making your way towards the fascinating ruins of Rievaulx Abbey. Continue west through the managed woods and past the ponds at Nettledale before a gradual climb to Cold Kirby village. End by taking in the dramatic escarpment of Sutton Bank – the western gateway to the North York Moors National Park.

Distance: 10 miles

Terrain notes: Some steep and slippery sections and a river crossing.
