Throughout the day Rod will share with you his wealth of knowledge about the birds and engage you in their natural behaviours and hunting techniques whilst at all times the birds are totally free to choose where to go and what they would like to do....... ultimately flying freely back to the safety of their aviaries.
On arrival Cathy or Rod will take you to the Owl Garden where you can enjoy the company of our large collection of owls in their aviaries. This is also a wildlife garden, offering food, nesting and safe haven for local wildlife. Rod will then take you to the Owl Barn where you will fly a few small owls to your gloved hand, discover their lives in the wild, their hunting skills, their inter-relationships and their habitats. There will be plenty of opportunity for discussion and wildlife photography.
You will then fly some of our larger birds in the open field, including a Harris Hawk, and as they fly to you to land for food you will be able to take some stunning video or photography.
Lunch will be chosen from our fresh luncheon menu, after which you will be able to enjoy the Afternoon Flying display in the flying field, when some of our more spectacular birds will demonstrate their aerodynamic skills! Again, amazing photographic opportunity. These birds will usually include a barn owl, buzzard and palm nut vulture as well as some of our larger owls.
Delicious Exmoor Cream Tea to close the day!
You’ll be working up a sweat. Bring along a touch of enthusiasm and a little determination
