Two Day Wilderness Escape with Green Man Survival

  • Location Newby Bridge
  • Price from £695.00

Highlights

Pack your clothes along with your sense of adventure and escape for a couple of days to the woods on this fully catered, immersive experience, with some wild camping accommodation thrown in. You may be learning some survival skills, but don’t be fooled, this is wilderness luxury… well, almost!!

We will meet you at 9am on the morning of the first day and give you a tour of our 45 acre private woodland site. Drop your luggage at your accommodation for the weekend and have a quick look around your very own slice of wilderness paradise, on the shores of Windermere lake. Our 6 man Klondike tent is something to behold!

Our day will begin with a bushcraft fire lighting session at base camp, the kettle won't boil itself you know. Now you will get the opportunity to learn how to light fire from sparks and where to collect dry materials to cook up a right bit of bush tucker! It won't be long until the air is full of the aroma of wood smoke and lunch is round the corner.

It's time to get cooking. We hope you skipped breakfast! Stuffed bannock is a staple on all our wilderness trips. Imagine the best fresh bread toasty cooked over a campfire. With a selection of fillings, you can create your own; don't worry about food envy, it's a tear and share kinda deal.

Once we have recovered from our log fire lunch it's time to bring out the bows and arrows and learn the ancient skill of archery. Forget that dusty old archery session you did before. Our field archery range is a real challenge and will have you shooting loads of targets at a range of distances throughout the woods.

After a well earned brew and s’more, it's time to get the rifle out and put that aim to the test. Once you have your eye in, Jungle Lane is waiting. Here we have stacks of targets all over the woods to hunt and hit with your sniper rifle.

Well, that sounds exhausting! Maybe a bit of downtime is needed at your tipi or a wander to the lake before dinner.

Sitting around the campfire enjoying a hearty meal is something we should all do at least once! We have a range of menus that you can decide on before coming along. With the lantern glowing and the fire crackling we can share tales of adventures and listen to the woods wind down for the night. We have another action packed day tomorrow so our beds are calling.

Rise and shine for a hearty cooked breakfast around the fire with tea and coffee galore. Cereals, fruit and juices are all on offer so get charged up and ready for another day full of adventures.

Walking through the woods after breakfast is a bit like reading the morning newspaper. We get the opportunity to see what was happening while we were dreaming of more adventures. Following animal tracks and seeing who was about is a mystery many never observe. Our wanders go in many directions, both geographically and educationally. It all depends on what we see!

After a bit of a stone skimming competition it’s time to get that fire crackling again and a brew on for our morning of whittling and carving. Here you can have a crack at making spoons and learning loads of survival notches for hanging pots and making traps. Your knife is your life out here and using it safely and efficiently is fundamental.

A forest feast awaits! Time to get cooking again and fuelled up for our afternoon hike. Again we have many menu options to choose from.

After lunch it's time to get packed up, say goodbye to your camp, and run for the hills!

Our afternoon hike will take us to one of the Lake District’s very best viewpoints, Gummer’s How, with a spectacular rocky summit and one of the best vistas of the entire South Lakeland mountains. We will then head through some of the area's most stunning ancient woodland. Here we will really get to grips with tree ID and foraging. You can also learn some navigation with map and compass and if you're really lucky, see red kites, roe and red deer, foxes and even the rarest of all, the bobble hatted rambler.

All good things must come to an end. With tired legs we will arrive back at our cars and depart for home. An experience to remember, with tales to tell and loads of new skills under your belt, oh and maybe a few extra pounds from all the bannock!
