Adventure Highlights

The highest mountain in England lies in the heart of the Lake District. Mountains surround it on all sides, and the great lakes radiate out. The sea lies in a sweeping arc on three sides, and on a clear day you can see the Isle of Man, North Wales, and Scotland. Our walk up Scafell Pike starts from the dramatic valley of Wasdale, next to Wastwater, England’s deepest lake. Throughout the journey you’ll see the remains of ancient volcanoes, the mountain plants and animals that call these peaks home, and the mountain culture of this famous corner of the land. The day walk is fully guided, allowing you to concentrate on enjoying the journey rather than worrying about navigation and dealing with any incidents. The guide for your small group will be able to look after you, provide you with an insight into the landscape and the special story of Scafell Pike, and most importantly get you to the top! All our guides are fully qualified Mountain Leaders and are first aid trained. Adventure Details

Day 1

Start time 09:00

We’ll meet in the National Trust car park in Wasdale beside the ticket machines at 09:00am for a 09:15am start, where you’ll meet the group and your guide.
Scafell Pike is 978m (3209 feet) high, and the walk starts from near sea level, so there’s nearly 1000m of ascent and descent on the route. The distance is approximately 6 miles (10 km) and the return trip takes between 5 and 6 hours. We’ll allow for plenty of breaks to eat and drink and admire the scenery, and of course to get those all-important summit photos.
We aim to be back in the car park between 4pm and 5pm.

End time 17:00
