Professionals versus quacks – Innovations in surgical practices lead to modern medicine, while quackery flourishes.

As part of our Health & Wellness month, the Pump Room welcomes Steve Bacon from Live'n History historical interpretations company to share his knowledge on Victorian Medical advances.

Live'n History have extensive experience of recreating historical events and have worked at a number of historic sites and museums throughout the country. Through their presentations, they educate, entertain and inspire by recreating the past through presentations and workshops and have worked with a variety of museums and heritage sites including The National Trust and English Heritage.

Not for the faint-hearted and for one night only in Buxton, Steve will embody the character of Dr. W.H. Robertson to share with us the fascinating truth about Victorian medicine.

Guests are invited to arrive from 6.30pm for refreshments. The talk will then commence at 7pm and finish at 8pm. Guests are welcome to stay for a drink and to socialise once the talk has completed.
