Highlights

On Friday 25th October we are delighted to welcome Maria Linares for a solo piano recital at Lamport Hall.  

The event is a Pay What You Can model. Pre-book your ticket for £1 on our ticketing platform and then either select an optional donation at checkout or make an anonymous cash donation on the evening if you wish. Please note,there is no obligation to pay anything further than the £1 on booking either in advance or on the night. If after booking your slot, you are no longer able to attend, please let us know so we can release your ticket to others and refund your ticket(s). 

Doors open at 7pm for a 7:30pm start. Refreshments will be available to purchase on arrival. Maria will play an hour long set in the High Room with no interval. Programme TBA.   

About Maria 

Spanish 21-year-old Maria Linares is currently studying BMus (Hons) in piano performance at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, receiving a full four-year scholarship award and studying under the tutelage of Professor Pascal Nemirovski. In advance of moving to the UK, she received the highest accolades in piano as well as chamber music in her native country while studying with Professor Juan Lago. At the age of 12, Maria performed her solo recital debut, which was followed sometime after by her debut with orchestra at the Palau de la Musica in Valencia and at the Ciudad de Leon Concert Hall, playing in continuous seasons Grieg Piano Concerto in A minor, Chopin Piano Concerto no. 1, Liszt Piano Concerto no. 1 and J.S. Bach Concerto for two pianos and orchestra BWV 1061. She has performed in consolidated Festivals and venues around Europe such as the Chopin of Valldemossa in Mallorca, Valencia International Piano Festival, XXXVIII Youth Segovia Festival, XIII International Music Forum Festival, Eutherpe Foundation 20th Anniversary Music Festival in Spain. Stagione di Musica Classica Legature at the Rossini di Gioia del Colle Theather and Diocesano Museum of Brescia in Italy, Beethoven Festival in the United Kingdom, the University of Music Leipzig in Germany and Hindemith Music Centre in Switzerland. In addition to this, while being lauded as one of the young ambassadors of the “Lang Lang International Music Foundation, she has played in the Barcelona Auditorium, Musikhochschule Mannheim, Rathaus Festsaal Riegelsberg, Theather am Ring Saarlouis, in Germany and recently in the Play it Forward Virtual Concert Series of Lang Lang International Music Foundation in Instagram, among others. Her performances have been recorded for Scala Radio in the United Kingdom and Catalunya Radio, Plaza Radio and the TV Program ‘La Partytura’ in Spain. Maria has received First Prizes in competitions inside of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire such as the Renna Kellaway Piano Prize, open to all undergraduate pianists; the Dennis Matthews Piano Prize and the Winifred Micklam Prize. She has been also the main prize-winner in her age category in the most distinguished national and international competitions in her home country, part of them being VIPA 2022, XXVI Ruperto Chapi, XXXIV Marisa Montiel, XXVII Jacinto Guerrero, XVII Ciudad de Xativa, XXI Ciutat de Carlet, Ciutat de Lliria 2017, IV Vila de Xabia, III Sigüenza and III Forum Orihuela. Meanwhile, she was awarded the Second Prize in III Maria Herrero, the Third Prize in the VII Anton Garcia Abril and the Third Prize along with the Best Performer of Spanish Music of all the categories in the XXII International Ibiza Competition. She has been offered the opportunity to perform in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Paul Badura-Skoda, Cyprien Katsaris and Lang Lang. Being equally devoted to chamber music, she has been awarded outstanding prizes in her country; First Prize in the XXI Ximen d ́Urrea Competition and Second Prize in the XIV Vila de Betxi Chamber Music Competition, as well as been playing in Festivals and concert halls such as in the Series of concerts Primavera a L ́Espai at the Girona Auditorium, Valencia International Performance Academy and the Palau de la Musica in Valencia among other venues.
