Creating Textures in Watercolour - Saturday 5 October

  • Location Danby Lodge National Park Centre
  • Price from £85.00

Highlights

10am - 4pm

Join watercolour artist Ione Harrison to explore and play with some fun techniques in the wonderful medium of watercolour. You will complete two atmospheric paintings: Summer Trees and Moorland Textures. Suitable for all levels, whether you have some experience of working in watercolour and want to try out some new techniques to create interesting textures, or are a complete beginner. Using a limited but vibrant palette, you’ll experiment with using wax resist, spatter, cling film, cotton thread and masking fluid in creative ways. You will start by exploring your colours and mark making, then will create a beautifully atmospheric image of a meadow with trees, using masking fluid to create foliage and water spray to create impressionistic distant trees. The second painting will be based on the North York Moors with a typical stone wall and lone tree. You will use cling film, cotton thread and wax resist to create some lovely textures. Throughout, you will be supported by expert tuition: each step and technique will be demonstrated clearly first. There is minimal drawing required. The overall aim of the day is to have fun and explore what watercolour can do.
