Join us for our half day "Bait to Plate" experience which will see you taking on the challenge of outwitting & catching a Trout "on the fly" in a short but action packed guided fly fishing session before getting hands on back at our smokehouse kitchen preparing & curing your catch ready for cold smoking. We will then post your fish out to you once the smoking process is complete ready for an amazing brunch with a great story, don't forget the eggs, avocado & sourdough!
Our day starts with a 2hr fly fishing taster experience at the gin clear waters of Chalk Springs Trout Fishery nestled on the edge of the historic (and beautiful) market town of Arundel. We start with a little basic instruction to give you the best chance of catching a monster before we cast our fly for the first time at the trout lakes. Once our fishing time has elapsed and with fish in hand (even if you don't manage to catch one yourself one trout per person will be provided) its over to Fins & Forks HQ for a hands on session at our smokehouse kitchen, specifically designed to take no more than 4 clients and ensuring you get a quality experience and as much or as little 1 to 1 guidance as you need. In the kitchen you will try your hand at preparing and curing your catch for the smoker, choosing one of our signature cure flavourings. We would also be delighted to upgrade your package to include food and drink and take you on a culinary journey along Sussex's coastline and waterways through our Fins & Forks Smokehouse Lunch (please allow a little more time for your experience should you choose to eat with us)
Following your experience we will post your cold smoked trout out to you when it’s ready for the brunch treatment a few days later in chilled insulated packaging ensuring your fish is at its absolute best when it arrives at your door.
Suitable for all abilities, absolute fishing and kitchen beginners are welcomed with open arms. This experience is hosted by a qualified chef & angling coach.
i)Unless you already have one, a 1 day 'Trout & Coarse' rod licence (£6) is required for all participants, this is something you must purchase yourself but to make things easier we will include the link in our booking confirmation. This license can be purchased up to 30 days before your experience and we will need to take a note of the number on the day.
ii) Our Smokehouse lunch is designed to be enjoyed by the whole party.
iii) Half day experiences cannot be secured as private events
