Adventure Highlights

Mountain scenery, the relaxing sounds of a nearby stream, log burner, comfy sofas, good food and great company – it’s time to crank up the Hygge (Danish for cosy) factor over Christmas. With this five-night break we’ve brought together all the elements for making this Christmas a special one with a heady combination of lovely walks, sociable evenings in a welcoming atmosphere and quite frankly, plenty of good cheer. Our guesthouse in the delightful village of Llanberis is a good starting point for a Hygge Christmas complete with tree and festive decorations, and then we’ve added plenty more seasonal offerings including serving mulled wine and roast turkey on the Big Day itself. Each day guests are free to do as much or as little as they want, whether they want to don their walking gear and venture out into Snowdonia’s loveliness or mooch around and enjoy some ‘downtime’ in the cottage or the local hostelries. In a nutshell: - Five nights, including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, spent in the atmospheric, tranquil mountain surroundings of Snowdonia’s National Park. - Four days of guided walks through varied scenery whether it’s beautiful valleys quiet woodland or bracing stretches of coastal headland. - Two meals in pubs, three evening meals in the guesthouse and all breakfasts and packed lunches. - A Partridge in a pear tree! No seriously, a chance to spend Christmas in ridiculously good company combining exercise with plenty of socialising.

This adventure is perfect for individuals and small groups, and can be tailored for:

  • Corporates
  • Families
  • Hen / Stag parties

Adventure Details

Day 1

Start time 17:00

As you pitch up at the Dol Peris guesthouse with the lights beckoning you in and the smell of the pine tree, we defy even the most Scrooge-like guests not to feel just a tad Christmassy.
You’re welcome to arrive any time after 5pm by which point we’re usually poised over the kettle making cups of tea for guests as they step through the door and gravitate towards the log burner.
Later in the evening, by which time the chatter is normally interspersed with plenty of laughter, we all congregate round the dinner table for the first night’s meal.
If we manage to get a word in, we take the opportunity to talk you through the plans for the next few days!

Day 2

On each of these days we’ll be heading out on easy day walks to explore the area, though on Christmas Day we make it a shorter adventure to allow time to get back and start preparing the big meal!
We’re spoilt for choice when it comes to walks nearby and it really depends on the number of miles and type of walk the group would like to do each day.
Rest assured, our guide will have a number of options up his sleeve whether it’s strolling round the scenic shores of Llyn Padarn, walking up one of the smaller hills such as Moel y Ci or venturing into the dramatic lake and stream scenery of Nant Gwynant.
After the walks are over we’ll head back to the guesthouse and either settle in for a night of freshly prepared food by the host, or head out into Llanberis itself.
For those wanting to enjoy a pint in the pub, well there’s one just a few steps away from Dol Peris, plus there’s a shop for re-stocking essential Christmas tipples or other celebratory treats!
While none of our walks are aimed at being taxing, guests are most welcome to enjoy a day off at any point during their stay, particularly as the guesthouse lounge makes a great place for simply chilling out and reading a book.
