Lambing Experience

  • Location Taunton
  • Price from £60.00
  • Multi-activity
  • Wildlife
  • Learn new skills

Join us on our family farm during our busy lambing period. Meet the sheep and lambs, learn about lambing and get involved in helping on the farm!
This is a three hour, hands-on session, where you will join us on our 100 acre working farm experiencing the reality of farm life during lambing.
The day will be informal, fun, educational and busy and is suitable for anyone with a keen interest into what really happens at lambing time.
During the experience you will join Tamsyn and Gordon out on the farm with the animals. We will be seeing any newborn lambs, ensuring that they are thriving, checking for and learning about common issues or concerns that arise.
We will see the pregnant ewes, learn about how to care for them and look for signs of labour amongst them. If we are fortunate enough to have a birth while you are with us (this can’t be guaranteed for obvious reasons) we will talk you through what is happening, what to expect and you will be able to get really involved if you would like to! We will follow the birth right through from early labour to ensuring the lambs are fit and well, standing and feeding.
You will spend time with any orphan lambs, making up formula and bottle feeding them, ensuring they are warm, clean and comfortable.
As well as this, you will be able to help out with the everyday tasks of lambing. This may be be helping a newborn to suck, building pens, putting out fresh bedding and water or putting the ewes and lambs out in the field. The experience will be in small groups with a maximum of four participants.
Coffee, tea and cake will be provided.
Lambing is such a joyful, happy and tiring time on the farm. However, please be aware that this is a real life experience. Although we do everything within our power to ensure that all births go well and healthy lambs are born, the reality is that this is not always possible. Unfortunately, at times there is sadness and loss.

This adventure is perfect for individuals and small groups, and can be tailored for:
