The Explore Award (formerly 2 Star) is an improvement award that helps paddlers develop fundamental paddlesport skills on the water to become independent on the water, go on self-guided adventures, and know how to control your craft and stay safe on the water. This 1-day course covers all the skills needed for the Explore Award and takes place on sheltered waters near Taunton.
The course:
During the course you will look at equipment, paddling skills, rescue techniques, and undertake a journey. We do our best to tailor the course to your needs, and there will be plenty of time to practice and gain full confidence in all the newly taught skills. In this award, you will take ownership of your own decisions and learn to make confident choices, based on the places you paddle, wind and weather.

A main focus is on understanding of the fundamentals of paddling. You learn self-rescue techniques, gain confidence in paddling, and undertake a journey. Plenty of time to practice and gain full confidence in all the newly taught skills.
