This tour concentrates on the very popular and spectacular scenery of the Dark Peak, as well as Hope Valley and the Vale of Edale.
The Dark Peak is the area of the Peak District built on gritstone, as opposed to the White Peak's Limestone. It is characterised by the heather clad moors and dramatic gritstone edges and escarpments, such as Stanage Edge.
This is a day of contrasts, taking in the wonderful views around Higgar Tor, Stanage Edge, Winnat's Pass and Mam Tor as well as visits to the idyllic villages of picturesque Hope Valley, such as Hathersage and Castleton. We will pay a visit to the famous grave of Little John, famed lieutenant of Robin Hood and our guests can enjoy the opportunity to explore the tea-rooms and Blue John jewellers that line the narrow, historic streets of Castleton.
We'll also pay a visit to the intriguing "Plague Village" of Eyam, with it's unique and fascinating history, as well as beauty spots such as Monsal Head and the "Shivering Mountain", Mam Tor, before finishing off with a visit to the historic Derwent Dam, famous for its links to the Dambusters.
