A Derwent Valley Tours Walk!
A 7 mile circular walk starting from the historic Duffield Church and following the ancient coffin trail over Duffield Bank to the historic ruins of Horsley Castle. This little known castle witnessed important historical events in the middle ages and dominated the local area. The walk returns via picturesque Holbrook village with the opportunity for lunch at the famous Spotted Cow Inn or the Spotted Calf café. The return is via the Dumble and Manor Quarry.
What you’ll need: Either a picnic lunch or payment for one at the “Spotted Cow”. Suitable clothing and footwear. Parts of the route are on rough surfaced paths with steep climbs.
Meet at Duffield Church (DE56 4BA). Free parking available. Short walk from Duffield Baptist Church bus stop on A6.
