Adventure Details

Day 1

Start time 09:00

We start in the morning in the Norwich (a UNESCO City of Literature apparently, I had no idea!), and cycle on quiet country lanes to our prepared campsite in the Norfolk Broads. Opportunity for an evening swim in the river before settling down to a hearty dinner around the campfire, prepared by our campsite host.

Day 2

After breakfast, we cycle up to the famous North Norfolk coast to Stiffkey, where again our campsite will be set up for us. Here there are the atmospheric salt marshes and vast open landscape to one side of you, and the beautiful Norfolk countryside on the other. A chance to try the famous Cromer crab and local seafood.

Day 3

We've got a 30 mile ride before a fabulous lunch at the famous Dabbling Duck gastro pub at Great Massingham. After lunch we have a short 15 mile ride to the station at Kings Lynn for the return train journey to London Kings Cross which takes one and a half hours.

End time 17:00

What you'll need to bring

  • Food Meals are provided but bring some personal snacks to nibble on when the going gets tough
  • Drink A lot of groups choose to nip in to the pub in the evening, otherwise feel free to bring some of your favourite tipple to aid rest and recuperation.
  • Other Personal medication if required - EpiPens, asthma inhaler, hayfever pills
    The cycling kit
A bicycle in good working order apart from fixed gear and single speed bikes and anything with tyres that are too geared towards racing and punctures! A spare tube for your bike can really speed things up (if you suspect that your wheels are an unusual size) Cycling shorts or padded undershorts to keep you comfortable in the saddle. A tub of chamois cream can be a lifesaver A waterproof jacket that you can wear whilst cycling is essential(don't worry so much about your legs, they dry off!) Cycling shoes if you have them or shoes with a reasonably stiff and grippy sole. Cycling gloves or normal gloves to keep your hands comfortable, and/or your hands warm A warm hat to go under your helmet and to wear at the campsite if it is chilly. A helmet. A packable warm layer for rest stops. This will ideally be quick drying so that you can wear it whilst cycling if necessary. A small backpack, around 20lt for me but each to their own. Some people will prefer not to bring one but bear in mind that you are in a group and that lycra onesie may not keep you warm for long if we are forced to do a long stop.
  • Warm Clothing Anty evening can take a turn for the chilly so be sure to bring a spare warm layer for when you are back at the campsite
  • Waterproofs A rain jacket and trousers (separate to the gear you will bring on the cycle) is always a handy thing to have at hand in case of rain back at camp
  • Camping Equipment If you need a large pillow normally we'd suggest you bring something with you. We have cushions to use but a creak in the neck is not a fun experience.
