A slice of wilderness, open fires and Tipi wild camping! Two day canoe and wild camp adventure. Enjoy the majestic tranquillity of the Medway river, paddling through the meadows of the Medway Valley, with not a road in sight! The quiet pace of the river is perfect for observing nature and wildlife, but you can also fly down through the locks on the river using the canoe passes to give you a short burst of white water. Enjoy meals cooked over the camp fire and a true feeling of getting away from it all on this fun-filled canoe weekend!

Adventure Details

Day 1

Start time 10:00

Explore the Medway River and learn basic canoeing skills and also the lore of camp craft, from knot tying to fire lighting with feather sticks. After 13km of paddling (around 5 hours including a lunch break), set up camp on a river island in a Tipi with a wood burning stove to heat the space and an open fire. If you feel more adventurous you can sleep under a tarp. Share an evening meal cooked over the fire to give you energy for the next day's paddle. A chance to stargaze and experience the splendour of nature away from the lights and noise of the city.

Day 2

More exploring of the tranquil Medway river, with around 15km of paddling or 6 hours including a break for lunch.

  • Food All meals are included: lunch and supper on Saturday, breakfast and lunch on Sunday, and energy snacks throughout the canoeing.
  • Equipment All canoeing and camping equipment including canoes, buoyancy aids, paddles, waterproof jackets if needed, dry bags to keep your personal things in and sleeping bags and thermarests.

What you'll need to bring

  • Other Comfortable active wear for paddling. Warm jumper and hat for the evening. Overnight bag. Water bottle. Your own sleeping bag if you'd prefer to use that rather than one of ours.

Cancellations

Strict - Cancel up to 31 days before your adventure to recieve a 75% refund

Cancelling less than 30 days before results in no refund.

Refund excludes processing fees. Alternate dates may be able to be agreed at no additional cost, but this is not guaranteed.
