Join a local expert for a two-day tour exploring a world famous Unesco Geopark. The English Riviera offers some of the finest geology in the UK and some of the finest views that several royal families felt the urge to build their villas by. Our waters are renowned for their shelter and the diverse geology creates fascinating sea tours around our headlands, islands and through our sea caves.
What epitomises Torbay is the view from the sea. We are overwhelmed by the sheer beauty and grandeur of the beautiful place we live in – and the geological history of what makes Torbay the stupendous coastal adventure playground that it is. It’s something rarely seen by the average visitor, of course, but it’s getting up close and personal to the multitude of rocks, coves, caves and inlets making up the 20 miles and 22 beaches of Torbay’s coastline that brings it all to life. This is the foundation on which SKT is built: the sheer amazement at what Torbay’s coastline has to offer, our wish to share with everyone the excitement we feel every time we go out.
Join our expert each day at a different location in the English Riviera. We use tandem touring sea kayaks that glide through the water, we rarely need to go far as we can launch very close to the headlands. Over the 2 days, you will experience the peninsulas of Hopes Nose and Berry Head.
We will travel at a snail's pace sight-seeing and hearing about the cultural history of an area steeped in history and hidden gems. We can stop along the way to catch our lunch and cook it on the beach.
Each day we will explore multiple coves and stop at secluded beaches for refreshments, exploration and land activities, including a beach fire for any cooking followed by toasted marshmallows. You will learn about the story of our rocks and there incredible journey to where they sit today and define this special place.
This tour is perfect if you want to really immerse yourself whilst in an area of outstanding beauty or as others say Englands most beautiful bay.
The 2-day tour can be converted into a wild camp, please contact us as to request.
Meadfoot or Babbacombe for Hope Nose
Brixham Breakwater for Berry Head
Brixham Oxon Cove for Torbay's backwaters
Stoke Gabriel for the Dart estuary backwaters
Day 1Each day will include a 6.5-hour tour. We will watch the weather leading up to the tour and choose the location that will provide the best conditions for the day. Torbay is very lucky to be sheltered from the prevailing winds and on all wind directions shelter can be found within the features of the bay.
We have 6 unique tours that have vastly different scenes but each could be awarded as good as the last. With the contrast of marine wildlife and multiple sites of scientific interest, we do not have to travel far to find fascinating natural wonders and dramatic rock formations.
Day 2Our launch on the second day will be from another part of the bay, we will make sure that the two tours are vastly contrasting but at the same time offering the best of the local sightseeing and coastal adventures we have to offer.
From huge sea caves to tiny sea horses hidden in our eelgrass meadows, there is so much to discover. You will want to join us for all of our tour options as our returning clients keep telling us. Each tour is graded as beginner, however, should you have more experience we can always increase the tempo, craft and environment to match your ability.
