Follow in the footsteps of Victorian slate miners with the best Mine Guides. You’ll experience the broad tunnels and cavernous chambers where the world’s finest slate was excavated by both hand and explosive, before being shipped around the world. The Adventurer gives you 2 hours of exploring, where you will see parts of the mine, hand-dug and worked by Victorian miners in 1836 and areas worked up until the 1970s when the mine was abandoned.

PLEASE READ THE IMPORTANT INFORMATION BELOW BEFORE BOOKING:

STEP 1. First select your tickets.
STEP 2. Select the date and time you wish to explore - The start and finish time is shown, please arrive 15 minutes before your start time. You will spend 2 hours underground.

Equipment A helmet, cap lamp, lamp belts and safety clips are provided. Wellies can also be provided if necessary. Please wear sturdy shoes / walking boots or wellies to explore as the floor is uneven and can be wet in places.

Warm Clothing Deep underground there is a cool year-round temperature of 8 degrees so no matter how warm it is above ground, always wrap up warm. We recommend lots of layers and 2 pairs of thick socks.
Waterproofs Recommended but not essential. There can be drips of water and you may need to walk through puddles.
Drink Please bring a drink in a small rucksack as both of your hands will need to be free at all times.
