Your Private Visit
Withymead is delighted to offer exclusive access bookings once again for 2023. Become immersed in its 13 acres of wetland and woodland habitats; enjoy observing its flora and fauna undisturbed, or simply relax and take in the beauty and quiet this green space has to offer.
Cared for by two resident wardens and volunteers, it is a tranquil haven for wildlife, known for its Loddon lilies, reed fen, riverside wildlife and as the location of Springfield Works, a late 19th century boatyard established by boat builder Samuel Saunders. Considerable work over the winter months allows nature to flourish and thrive, ready for you to enjoy first-hand during the spring and summer months.
Feel free to bring a picnic to sit and enjoy at our waterfront deck, or a flask of tea or coffee to sip whilst perched in one of our hides.
This booking is open to all: individuals, families, friends, clubs, not for profit organisations and educational groups or anyone who wishes to savour this local wildlife site.
There is no fixed charge for the visit on booking - but donations to the charitable trust on site to support the upkeep of this natural gem are greatly appreciated.
