If your goal is to climb Snowdon but want to make it that extra bit special, then this could be just the experience for you. Head up the mountain after dark, enjoying the wild feeling of the landscape shrouded in night. Gaze out over Snowdonia in the moonlight and see the world in a totally different way. With our qualified mountain leaders and a friendly group of fellow walkers, this will certainly be a night to remember. The Snowdonia National Park is a vast area of peaks, valleys, forests and rivers. From the summit of Snowdon you’ll be able to see the Irish Sea, the Isle of Anglesey, and hundreds of other hills. In a nutshell: Summit Snowdon at night on a guided walk and see the landscape in the moonlight. Spend midnight on the summit gazing out over North Wales and the Irish Sea. Meet a great group of fellow walkers and enjoy the experience of the walk without worrying about navigation!

We’ll meet at the Electric Mountain visitor centre car park at 8pm and start walking at 8.15pm, heading towards the summit via the Llanberis Path. This path roughly follows the line of the north ridge of Snowdon, though there’s very little exposure and the path is very well made. It runs smoothly uphill and has only one section of steep ground, the rest being gradual.
There will be plenty of stops for snacks and water breaks, and time to appreciate the quiet of the hills at night. We’ll be close to the famous Snowdon Railway, but as there are no trains at night the tracks will be silent!
The ascent can take up to 4 hours, so we’ll be on the top (1085m) by midnight, where hopefully the clouds will leave us to appreciate the beauty of the countryside under the moon. We’ve specifically planned these walks to occur on or near the full moon, so if it’s clear we’ll see almost as much as during the day.
After spending some time enjoying the summit, we’ll begin the return journey. We’ll be heading down the same way, and ahead of us will be the lights of Llanberis and the towns that line the north coast of Wales. The descent will take approximately 3 hours, so we’ll be down at 3-4am. Sadly the cafes won’t be open yet, so we suggest you get some sleep before heading out to celebrate.
