Highlights
Clear your head and get in the Christmas spirit on this fabulous walk in the Peak District. This walk operates for groups of between 4 and 10 people.
The walk starts out below Mam Tor with a steady climb of about 150m (600ft) up to the top of the famous Mam Tor (or Shivering Mountain) at a height of 517m. From here we'll experience "one of the top ten views in England".
Next we follow along the Great Ridge towards Hollin's Cross, from where we continue along the ridge to Back Tor for another great view point. We continue on the ridge and also have an option of adding on to the stunning Winnats Pass and the old abandoned road below Mam Tor for those who wish.
After the walk you're free if you wish to enjoy the remainder of the day in beautiful Castleton.
The walk is mostly on good tracks and smaller footpaths and includes 2 fairly short but steep hills, and a longer climb of about 250m (900ft). At any time of year there could be some muddy sections and some sections of the path are rough and stony. There is a fairly long descent from Hollin's Cross which is a little steep in places and can be slippery when wet so footwear with good grip is required.
All our events are approved as "Good to Go" Covid-secure by Visit England.
Please note: All group walks require a minimum of 2 people booked to go ahead. If by chance you are booking for 1 person and nobody else books then you would be offered the choice of a full refund or to switch to an alternative date.
If you'd like to discuss the walk or other activities before booking please contact us.
