This diverse tour brings together two Devons’ most iconic locations, historic Plymouth and Dartmoor National Park. First the Barbican, the historic core of Plymouth, stand on the commemorative steps where the Pilgrim fathers departed, study the 102 names of those who set sail on Mayflower, walk the narrow cobbled streets with Elizabethan houses and drinking establishments a plenty. Then to Plymouth Hoe where Sir Francis Drake was famously interrupted whilst playing bowls to be informed of the pending arrival of the Spanish Armada, be in awe of Smeaton’s tower, the grandfather of Lighthouses and sit in the very spot where the Beatles sat during the Magical Mystery Tour. Off to beautiful Dartmoor, rugged, windswept and magical. Dartmoor ponies, Majestic highland cows and Dartmoor sheep will hopefully say “hello” on our way to Princetown home of the famous, nay infamous Dartmoor prison with its dark history.
